Regardless of its' location, if the chip is a lot bigger than 3 inches than most glass company firms will tell you that you need to replace it. If the chip is smaller than that, it can usually be fixed. The important thing is that you do not get talked into replacing your windshield when it is not necessary. If you suspect that a simple front window repair job would suffice, get at least 3-5 opinions before making the final call.
The next morning, we woke to a heavy, hot task of cleaning up the mess of limbs and leaves. We surveyed the damage. Fortunately, the heavy tree missed our carport by a foot. And only a few boards on the wooden fence needed to be replaced. It would be a fairly simple repair job. Next we moved onto the task of clearing away the fallen branches. Dents that are not thoroughly repaired are often filled with polyester resin or fibreglass paste. Tap the surface, or go along it with a magnet. Know whether the panel is made of steel, not plastic, fibreglass or aluminum. If there are places where the magnet will not adhere, then in all likelihood, the panel has been repaired. Ask the owner why the part has been repainted?
Clean up the front yard. Mow the grass. In the winter, shovel the driveway and the sidewalk. In the summer, add some flower pots. Wash the windows windshield chip repair and window screens. Repaint the front steps.
Have your service records available. You may not have all maintenance and service records for your vehicle, but your service station can provide you with copies. Showing prospective buyers that all recommended maintenance has been performed and your vehicle has been serviced on a regular basis will provide them with additional peace of mind. One growing benefit of vehicle history reports is that they now include service records from many dealerships, and large servicing chain stores. Be prepared for potential buyers to ask when the last oil change was, how new the tires are, and if any major maintenance (timing belt replacement is a common issue) has recently been performed.
